Denver Nuggets: Three keys to success for Jokic
By James Siegle
Own the Fourth Quarter:
Entering his fourth season, it’s time for Jokic to do…well, what NBA superstars do.
Denver Nuggets
Dominate the fourth quarter.
The NBA is a superstar’s league. Jokic is now an established stud.
This nets an opportunity for two changes:
- Denver must name Jokic its undisputed fourth quarter option
- Nikola needs to step up to be just that
I believe Murray can be a poor man’s Steph someday, and Will Barton will rock his starting role (read my previous articles – both statements are true). But waffling between different fourth quarter heroes won’t suffice. Murray and Barton should play a significant role in the fourth. But the team must belong to Jokic.
If Nikola wants to bury his man and score…perfect. He can also hit Barton/Harris on the cut or Murray for the trey-ball. Perhaps a dump-pass to Millsap will be open. Whatever the case, Jokic calls the shots. As Denver’s best player, Jokic must take the ball.
Because nothing is worse than an NBA ship with five captains.
