The Denver Nuggets’ new point guard, Isaiah Thomas, is already stirring up controversy.
It is no secret that the Denver Nuggets’ Isaiah Thomas did not fit in Cleveland last season. He eventually made his way to the Los Angeles Lakers to finish out the season. Now, he is a part of the Denver organization.
However, he is already causing waves within the news and the season has not even started yet. Thomas made a remark about the city of Cleveland recently. In an Instagram video, he called Cleveland a “sh–thole.” Later, Thomas would issue an apology.
Here is what he had to say.
"“I apologize for my choice of words about Cleveland. I was on my live playing around. They don’t show you everything for a reason smh. Right after that I clarified what I said…. All love to everybody who had love for me in Cleveland.”"
While Thomas is certainly entitled to his own opinion, this is not the greatest look for the newest Denver Nugget. Thomas is not just any player though.
He is only a couple of years removed from being in the MVP race and is looking to have a bounce back season after only getting a veteran minimum contract. It is great to see Thomas feisty and with a chip on his shoulder, ready to prove his doubters wrong.
Sometimes though, being feisty can get you in hot water, which Thomas is now in with Cleveland. Keep up that energy and use it better yourself for this coming season, but make sure it does not carry over to creating drama the team does not need to be a part of as they continue to develop.
If there is a positive to take away from this incident, it is that Isaiah is willing to be a bigger person and own up to his own words.
All in all, Denver should still be excited about having Isaiah Thomas on the roster this coming season.
