Four surprise stars in Denver Nuggets’ history
3. Gary Harris
Gary Harris had a fine career at Michigan State. He was a good shooter, could play some quality defense and he had the athletic attributes to make the jump to the NBA.
Denver Nuggets
On draft night in 2014, the Denver Nuggets selected Creighton Blue Jay marksman Doug McDermott who I wasn’t too keen on.
Then, news broke that we had traded Dougie McBuckets to the Chicago Bulls and in return we received two draft picks later in the round. One of those draft picks was the Spartan himself.
Gary came into the league and had to deal with Brian Shaw who did not give him any playing time. His skill set wasn’t polished and he just looked sloppy due to his little court time that many labeled his ceiling as a role player.
Yet, Gary didn’t listen to the critics, and he’s developed into one of the best all-around shooting guards in the Western Conference.
Known now as a premier three and D player, Gary Harris should be playing in All-Star games; nevertheless, the Western Conference is saturated with all-star shooting guards.
Nonetheless, Harris was a steal for the Nuggets and he is definitely part of the nucleus that’ll lead Denver back to the postseason.
