2. Kenneth Faried

Kenneth Faried falls second on this list of surprise Denver Nugget’s stars. Kenneth Faried was a star of his own during his time at Moorehead State. He became the all-time leading rebounder in NCAA history and lead the Golden Eagles to an upset victory against Rick Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals in the NCAA tournament.

Faried was selected 20th overall by the Nuggets in 2011 and didn’t get much playing time. He was a very one dimensional player who lacked a polished offensive game.

He was simply a energy player who could jump out of the gym but was a liability on defense. However, after some big plays and a huge showing at the FIBA Basketball tournament as part of team USA, Faried put himself on the map.

Faried brought the Nuggets energy night in and night out during his time in Denver. He was known for his high flying dunks, cleaning up the glass and humiliating rejections.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t very effective outside of those three facets, which lead to his decrease in minutes over his final couple seasons.

Even though Faried is now in Brooklyn, he will always be remembered as the Manimal here in Denver.
