Denver Nuggets vs. Warriors: Game preview
By Mathew Huff
Coming off a huge win over the Phoenix Suns, the Denver Nuggets will welcome the Golden State Warriors to the Pepsi Center.
The Denver Nuggets will take on the defending champion Golden State Warriors for the first time this season.
While this is a tall task, the Nuggets are one of the few teams who match up well with Golden State.
Last year, Denver was one of the few teams in the league who actually split the season series with the Warriors.
Denver Nuggets
Nikola Jokic is coming off a historical triple double and will be called upon to take advantage of Golden State’s front court as DeMarcus Cousins is still healing up from an achilles injury from last season.
Not to mention, these team’s back courts always make for an intriguing match up to keep an eye on as both guard tandems are comprised of elite perimeter jump shooters. Klay Thompson and Steph Curry are proven champions.
Jamal Murray and Gary Harris are young and up and coming stars and are actually molded after Golden State’s elite back court. The Nuggets will most likely be short handed as Will Barton went down with a scary hip injury in the third quarter of the win over the Phoenix Suns and had to be carted off the court. As a result, expect some changes to the starting rotation for the highly anticipated match up with the defending champions.
Denver will be in for a tough match up, there is no denying that especially against this particular Warriors team. However, it would not surprise me if the Nuggets are able to find a way to salvage a win over Golden State.
Especially with Jokic carrying a ton of momentum into this game after a monster triple double where he was perfect from the field.
All in all, expect a very entertaining and exciting Western Conference duel in the Pepsi Center.
