Denver Nuggets: Player of the game from Warriors win
By Mathew Huff
The Denver Nuggets got a big win at home and once again Nikola Jokic had a huge night.
The Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic are already on pace for a magical season. In may just be three games into the season, but the Nuggets’ three and zero record has many teams wary of how dangerous this squad is this year.
The Nuggets prevailed over the defending champion Golden State Warriors by a final score of 100-98.
The one player who had a great game in almost all facets of the game was once again, Nikola Jokic.
Denver Nuggets
Jokic logged the second highest point total of the team with 23 points to go along with six assists and 11 rebounds. Not to mention, he had an efficient shooting percentage again. Not quite a perfect 100% like he had in the win over the Phoenix Suns, but still shot 50%.
He also helped Paul Millsap down low from a defensive stand point. Jokic’s match up, Damian Jones, only scored eight points and helped Millsap lock down one the Warriors’ stars in Draymond Green. Green only scored four points on 25% shooting and was zero for one from three point territory.
Jokic is on pace to have a MVP like season if he keeps racking up numbers like this. He is already averaging 26.3 points per game along with an insane defensive rating of 93. He also possesses a high offensive rating of 154 to go along with an offensive box plus/minus of 14.6 and a defensive box plus/minus of 7.5.
Not to mention, we are likely in store for many more triple doubles from the Serbian big man this season though it will be tough to top the 35 point triple double he had the other night when he shot perfect from the field.
Nikola was the player of the game for the second game in a row and the Nuggets’ big man is now the first NBA player of the week to start off the season along with Kemba Walker.
Denver may have got the steal of the decade in Nikola Jokic and his night with the Golden State Warriors is further proof of this take.
It will be hard for Nikola to carry this momentum into the next games, but he is certainly capable of pulling off this feat.
