Denver Nuggets: Some History
It’s a new season and life is good for Denver Nuggets fans. However, as we virtually all know, life has been harder than it is now.
If we’re being honest some of the previous pain was inadvertently caused by the Denver Nuggets own front office. Of course, mistakes happen. Amongst the most recent, is the Denver Nuggets missing their opportunity to draft Donovan Mitchell.
However, in all fairness the Denver Nuggets had a lot of company there. The Knicks (Mitchell is from New York) and the Detroit Pistons (Mitchell worked out with the Pistons).
to name a couple.
Were also guilty of passing up on Donovan Mitchell. Nevertheless, below is a rundown (in reverse order) of the 10 worst draft picks in Denver Nuggets history.
10) Jerome Lane
One look at the footage below and it’s easy to see why the Denver Nuggets took a chance on Jerome Lane. Clearly a phenomenal athlete that apparently had the foundation needed for a successful NBA career.
Jerome Lane will go down as one of the best rebounders in Pittsburgh history.
However, even that skill, one of if not his best, failed to transfer over into the NBA. Simply put Jerome’s game lacked the versatility needed to win significant minutes with the Denver Nuggets. Which would eventually prove to be his best opportunity to make an NBA roster.
Drafted in 1988 with the 23rd pick in the 1st round. Jerome Lane would find his NBA career over by the 1992-3 season.
His career averages were: 5.3 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game.
An interesting fact about Jerome, he and LeBron James share the same hometown.
