Let’s pretend it happened!

In a crazy world, the Nuggets somehow found themselves with a lottery pick and their ping pong ball was selected first to give them the first overall pick.

On that faithful July day, Adam Silver steps to the podium and announces that the Denver Nuggets select Zion Williamson out of Duke. Well… now what?

Zion Williamson would immediately be put into Michael Malone’s rotation. Paul Millsap will either be gone or on the final year of his 3yr/$90 million deal or signed to a restructured longer termed deal.

Nevertheless, Millsap will be 34 and be on the stretch run of his career in search of a predecessor. That is where Zion would come into play and bring the Nuggets something that they have not seen from Millsap, which is freak athleticism.

Zion would thrive from working behind Millsap as Millsap would be able to teach the young blue devil different ways to approach offense. Zion uses his athleticism and pure strength to bully around defenders, where as Millsap uses technique, footwork and finesse.

It would be a perfect opportunity to add to Zion’s repertoire, making him an even more difficult guard. I can already see Malone salivating thinking about adding Zion to his already potent Nuggets’ lineup.

Besides being mentored by Millsap, Zion would be just another young piece to add to what could be the youngest, most dangerous core. Imagine a future lineup of Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, (a healthy) Michael Porter Jr., Zion Williamson and Nikola Jokic.

I honestly do not know who could stop this team once they meshed together.

Jamal and Porter Jr. are absolute assassins with the ball in their hands who could very well give you 25+ a night if they want. Gary Harris is an all-around stud who can play-make, shoot, finish and defend.

Nikola Jokic is the center piece who passes like a vintage Jason Kidd. Finally, Zion is the unstoppable force down low and on the break who can finish through contact.

Can you imagine what kind of show a Jokic/Zion combo would look like?
