By winning tonight’s game in Minnesota, Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone will travel to Charlotte to coach Team LeBron at the 2019 All-Star game.

Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone earned a high honor on Saturday night, securing his spot as the coach of “Team LeBron” in the 2019 All-Star game.

The team who is atop of their respective conference has their coaching staff selected to coach in the All-Star game, and with a tiebreaker for the top spot going to the Nuggets against the Golden State Warriors, the gig goes to Malone and his staff.

There is no coach that deserves this honor more than Malone. At the end of last season there was speculation as to whether Malone should be fired. Tim Connelly decided to bring Malone back, and that decision is looking better and better every day.

Malone has instilled a culture within the Denver locker room that he has the players buying into. He preaches defense, and this year the Nuggets have drastically improved on that end of the basketball. What was once the achilles heel of the team can now sometimes be it’s strength.

The former Sacramento Kings coach has lead the 2018-19 Nuggets to a 37-15 record, which is an impressive feat. Denver currently boasts the 2nd youngest roster in the NBA, with star Nikola Jokic being only 23 years old. Jokic was selected to his first ever All-Star game this Thursday.

Malone and James go way back, as Malone was an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005-2010. James was on the roster, and they both have love for one another.

Malone has quickly become a coach of the year candidate, taking a team that missed the playoffs by one game last year and turning them into one of the best in the NBA. There are still some things to work out, but no one could have drawn up a better start for the Nuggets through 52 games.

Congratulations to Coach Malone on this incredible achievement!
