Nikola Jokic was drafted to team Giannis with the third pick of the second round of Thursday night’s All-Star Game Draft.
The first-time All-Star was Antetokounmpo second reserve pick — behind his Bucks teammate Khris Middleton — ahead of the likes of Russell Westbrook, Ben Simmons and Karl Anthony Towns.
The Serbian is one of four international-born players on Team Giannis, joining Joel Embiid (Cameroon), Nikola Vucevic (Montenegro) and Antetokounmpo (Greece).
Jokic is averaging a career-high 20.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game this season, leading a Nuggets squad to a 37-17 record, good for second in the West.
Joining Antetokounmpo starting for Team Giannis will be Steph Curry, Joel Embiid, Paul George and Kemba Walker.
Joining Middleton and Jokic in the group of reserves will be Westbrook, Blake Griffin, D’Angelo Russell, Vucevic and Kyle Lowry.
Dirk Nowitzki will be the special addition to Team Giannis.
Getting drafted to team Giannis means Jokic will be facing Nuggets coach Michael Malone and staff, who will be coaching team LeBron.
LeBron, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden will start for Team LeBron.
Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, Lamarcus Aldridge, Karl Anthony-Towns and Bradley Beal will come off the bench, and Dwayne Wade will be the special addition.
Along with the first televised All-Star Draft came the first All-Star Draft trade.
Giannis agreed to send Ben Simmons to Team LeBron for Russell Westbrook, fulfilling a pre-draft wishing of pairing Westbrook with Embiid.
Team LeBron is also interesting because he surrounded himself with a number of players with potential to join the Lakers.
