For how many NBA teams would Monte Morris start?

Monte Morris has exceeded just about everyone’s expectation for this season. He’s one of the leagues most efficient point guards for the Denver Nuggets, but how many teams other teams’ starting fives could he crack?

OK, I know. This is very up for interpretation.

With different rotations, pieces of the puzzle and specific lineups, its rare the five best players make up the starting lineup.

It’s just as rare for the best player at every position to be in the starting five.

But, I have to draw the line somewhere.

We’ll look at the best point guard on every team — discarding minor injuries but including injuries that will keep a player out for the season (John Wall) — and how they stack up against Monte Morris.

So I broke Morris’s chances of starting on every team down into four categories: the definitely nots, the probably nots, the Probably’s and the definitely’s.

A couple notes:

  • Morris has played a more limited role than many other point guards, so most comparisons will be made on per 36-minutes stats.
  • It’s impossible to tell which teams he would actually start on due to a number of factors — direction of team, style of play, coaches decisions — so, I made decisions purely on performance this season.

Before we start, lets take a look at what he’s been able to do this season.
