For how many NBA teams would Monte Morris start?

The Final Tally

After my super-official breakdown, the final number rests at 12. 12 teams — not including the Nuggets — Monte Morris could start for right now.

The 56th overall pick last year out of Iowa State, who spent all but a few games in the G-Leauge last season, could start on over 1/3 of NBA teams.

And of those 12 teams, three — the Spurs, Clippers and Jazz — would make the playoffs if they started today.

Maybe I was too nice to Morris — I am just a little biased — but that’s the beauty of it. There’s no way to prove any of this.

So in my book, the number is 12 — with plenty of room for improvement.

And though at 23, he is older than the average second-year pro, he’s already ahead where anybody expected him to be at this point.

If we were to redraft last years class, Morris surely comes off the board in the lottery — and he has an argument for the top-10.

And even as the season winds down and Isaiah Thomas finds his place in the Nuggets rotation, there’s no doubt Morris will be hard to forget about.
