The second player that will need to step his game up for the Denver Nuggets is Isaiah Thomas.

No, this is not based on his play in the first part of the season, as it’s hard to judge that off of one game. A game, by the way, where Thomas contributed nicely in a win over the Sacramento Kings.

Thomas is on this list strictly as a statement that he needs to step up coming back from injury. Just to put it into perspective, the only player that has more NBA experience on the roster than Thomas is Paul Millsap, so he has a veteran’s mind in the locker room. There will be times where Coach Malone may put IT into the game and say, “Hey, go get us a bucket,” and it’s going to be up to him to do that.

He’s going to play in different lineups with different teammates at different times of the game. Through all of this, the thing that needs to stay consistent is his play. Thomas has shown to be a pretty good mentor to the other point guards on the roster Jamal Murray and Monte Morris off of the court, can he show that he still belongs with his play on the hardwood?

Plenty of points and plays from Isaiah Thomas would be greatly appreciated as the Nuggets begin the final 20 game stretch.
