Denver Nuggets: Predicting the Playoff Roster
By Blake Holmes
The main bench contributors for the Denver Nuggets in the postseason will be…
The Nuggets have a deep bench, and sometimes that can be enough to win games when it matters. These guys will be the first off of the bench when it’s needed to make a big play or give a rest.
C: Mason Plumlee
PG: Monte Morris
SF: Malik Beasley
Denver is unique in that they don’t really have a set sixth man per se, but if you told me to pick a guy, it would be Mason Plumlee. Plumlee is a great rim protector, especially on the bench, and he’s capable to an extent in the lower post on offense. He’s great for pick and rolls, and he plays naturally with the bench unit. His stats aren’t glamorous, but you don’t need them to be, because he does the dirty work for the squad down low.
Monte Morris has been a huge pleasant surprise for the Denver Nuggets this year. After being selected in the 2nd round of the 2017 draft, the Iowa State product took the league by storm this year, bringing his trademark basketball I.Q. with him. At this point, he is second in the league in assist/turnover ratio, and he is top 10 in the league in offensive efficiency. He’s got active hands, and he isn’t afraid to play defense when you need him to.
The other Nuggets player in the top 10 in offensive efficiency? Malik Beasley. While he has been known in the NBA as a bit of a high-flyer, Malik has shown that he has what it takes to light a spark for the team when it’s needed the most, whether it be with his athleticism or his outstanding three-point stroke. How about the 35 he put on the Rockets in a nationally televised game earlier this year?
