The Nuggets are a second half team

It might be seen as a bit unfair to deem the Nuggets a second half team, but it isn’t meant to be a bad thing.

Denver has began games slowly out of the gate time and time again. Although teams might not have energy for the start of all games, the Nuggets seem to do this more often than most.

This way of play can make the Nuggets fall into some deep holes to open the game. It seems head coach Michael Malone has to burn a few timeouts early in the game to get his team focused, but he has done a great job of getting the most out of his players on nights where they could just give up due to a huge deficit.

While the Nuggets would most likely like to be an “all game” team, being a second half team has its perks. Malone is able to make adjustments at halftime, his players listen, and they go out and win the game. This is where the clutch gene kicks in for this young Denver team, and it makes for a lot of exciting finishes.

If Denver continues to be clutch and continues to battle back in the second half of games, this team will be dangerous come playoff time. They’ve found their closer and they’ve found a successful formula. Now it’s time to just execute.
