Jamal Murray hadn’t exactly shown out for the Denver Nuggets against the Spurs. Until he almost singlehandedly put the Spurs away in Game 2.

I’m sure Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray would like to forget how Game 1 of their first-round matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.

With 6 seconds left, Murray missed a go-ahead bucket — a good look at a midrange jumper he normally makes.

Then after a pair of Derrick White free throws put the Spurs up three, White picked Murray’s pocket as he dribbled up court.

His bad luck carried over into Game 2. Murray was out of rhythm, out of sorts and out of confidence through three quarters.

He had just three points through three quarters — and 0-of-8 from the field.

Then he turned it on — as he’s been known to do from time to time. And he couldn’t have picked a better time.

He got going from midrange — growing more confident with each. Sprinkle in a few free throws and he was hot,

Then he put the nail in the coffin.

First came a step back 3 over Bryn Forbes late in the shot clock to put the Nuggets up 7. The next possession he hit a pull up 3-pointer in transition to give them a 10-point lead and force a Spurs timeout.

It was over after that. Pop pulled his starters and threw in the white towel.

It sure was nice to see the Blue Arrow get going. He’s been the Nuggets X-Factor all season in the way that how he goes the Nuggets go.

That will be no different going forward — especially as the series shifts to San Antonio.

The Spurs are much better at home than on the road — sporting a 32-9 clip at home compared to just 16-25 on the road.
