After splitting the first two games of the series in Denver the Denver Nuggets traveled down to San Antonio for an all important game three in the AT&T Center, a place where the Nuggets haven’t won since 2010.

The game started as it had every game this series, with San Antonio jumping out to an early but manageable lead of nine points at the start of the second quarter before the Denver Nuggets battled back and took a 10-point lead midway through the second quarter.

After trading the lead back and forth till the end of the second quarter, the spurs ended the half up three after a Demar DeRozen got fouled on a drive to the bucket and missed the second free throw and still gathering the offensive rebound to ice the half.

The Spurs emerged from the halftime break and opened another lead in the third quarter leading by  as many as 8 midway through the quarter before the nuggets closed the quarter on a 14-9 run to shrink the lead to 4.

In the fourth quarter the Spurs pulled away from the Nuggets with a massive 18-5 run that put the Spurs go up 20 with 4:14 left in the quarter and not enough time for the Nuggets to overcome such a commanding lead to give San Antonio a commanding 2-1 lead going into game four with the Nuggets season on the line and an all important game six still remaining at the AT&T Center for the Nuggets to  overcome.

San Antonio’s point guard Derrick White exploded for a career high 36 points on 15 of 21 shooting while Spurs starts DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge combined for 43 points.

Nuggets All-Star Nikola Jokic had 22 points on 8 of 14 shooting while Malik Beasley was the next best Nugget with 20 points off the bench on 7 of 13 shooting and 5-6 from behind the arc but with most of his looks coming late in the fourth during garbage time.
