Denver Nuggets: Should the Denver have let Connelly Interview with the Washington Wizards?
To let Connlley interview or to not let Connelly interview? That is the question.
The Washington Wizards have recently been granted permission to interview Connelly for the Job of President of Basketball Operations. This decision by the Nuggets is a controversial move that many Nugget fans may not necessarily agree with completely.
So, should the Nuggets have let Connelly interview with the Washington Wizards for the Job?
The answer will depend on whom you ask. Naturally, Denver Nugget fans have a variety of opinions on this this issue.
Connelly has contributed greatly to the Nugget’s organization and has earned the right to pursue whatever career path would make him happy. And if the he thinks he has taken the Denver Nuggets as far as he can take the Organization, he should look for other opportunities.
However, some Nugget fans might find the move by Connelly to be disrespectful. And they think the Denver Nuggets are negligent for letting him interview with another team given how important he is to the organization.
Despite what some fans may think, it might be in the best interest of the Nuggets for them to let Connelly interview with the Washington Wizards. If Connelly does not want to be with the Nuggets, it might be better to let him go. He may also hold it against the Nuggets if they did not let him interview for the Job.
More important, Connelly may not take the Job with the Washington Wizards even after interviewing for it. Moreover, the Wizards may not hire Connelly after interviewing him. For Connelly, the Wizards maybe to much of a headache and he may decided to stay with the Denver Nuggets.
Connelly is in a great position with the Nuggets and he is loved by the fanbase and Denver community.
The Nuggets are in a great position for any President of Basketball Operations. They have two young players in Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic that represent nearly decade of upside for the franchise and could be MVPs in the NBA in the future. Moreover, the Nugget already have a solid core of young role players. The Nuggets also made it to a game 7 of the Western Conference Finals this year and had the second best record in the Western Conference during the regular season.
Contrastingly, the Wizards franchise is in complete disarray and they would likely have to overcompensate Connelly to get him to take the job. Moreover, with John Wall’s injury history, the Wizards may not be in playoff contention for many seasons.
Either way, this is not good for the Denver Nuggets.
Connelly is credited with drafting and helping develop Denver’s core of young players. He is thought of as the architect of the modern Denver Nuggets.
Connelly is a critical part of the Nugget’s organization and losing him would be a major blow to the Nuggets. He will be hard to replace!
