Rodney Hood would make a great addition to the Denver Nuggets!
Rodney Hood will be available this offseason, and the Denver Nuggets should heavily consider signing him to a long-term contract.
Hood’s impressive performance in the Western Conference Semifinals was arguably the reason the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Nuggets. To coach Mike Malone, Hood was the “MVP” of the series.
Hood hit an amazing shot in game three that cost the Nuggets the game.
Aside from defense, the Nuggets’ bench was their core weakness this season. Hood could be a valuable addition to Nuggets’ bench for the 2019-20 season.
The Nuggets’ bench only averaged 27 PPG in the playoffs and 37.7 PPG during the 2018-19 regular season. The Nuggets’ bench also ranked 13th in the NBA in three-point attempts. Even worst, the Nuggets’ bench ranked 15th in the NBA in three-point shooting percentage.
For the 2018-19 season, Hood averaged 11.2 PPG and shot 35.6% from three-point range. Hood could provide scoring and three-point shooting off the Nuggets’ bench. And because Hood is 6’8” he can play the shooting guard, small forward, or power forward position off the bench.
Compared to his time in Cleveland and Utah, Hood spent significantly more time coming off the bench for the Trail Blazers. In the 2018-19 season, Hood started in all 45 games played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Moreover, in the 2017-18 season, he started in roughly half of his games for the Cavaliers. Hood also started for 167 of the 227 games he played for the Utah Jazz. However, hood seemed to embrace the role of coming off the bench for the Trail Blazers this season.
Hood has also played in 44 playoff games and has played in the NBA finals. His veteran experience could be useful as the Nuggets try to go deeper in the playoffs next season.
For the 2018-19 season, Hood only had a one-year $3,472,887 deal with the Trail Blazers. The Nuggets could offer Hood a more lucrative long-term contract this offseason to lure him away from the Trail Blazers.
Signing Hood would not only make the Nuggets better, but it would also make the Trail Blazers that much worst. This makes Hood that much better of an addition for the Nuggets!
The Nuggets should sign Rodney Hood to a longterm contract.
