Danny Green is just the type of player the Denver Nuggets need to sign this offseason

Danny Green will be a free agent this summer, and the Denver Nuggets should consider signing the Toronto Raptors shooting guard to improve their bench.

In the 2018 season, Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green were traded to Raptors for DeMar DeRozan and a first-round draft pick. Moreover, it is evident that Masai Ujiri got the better of Greg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs in the deal. This trade showed the importance of watching how players perform in the playoffs instead of the regular season. DeMar DeRozan’s performance in the regular season was similar to how well Leonard played.  However, in the playoffs Kawhi’s play is on a different level compared DeRozan.

The Nuggets should learn from this and get players that perform well in the playoffs.

Danny Green won an NBA championship 2013-14 and made the 2016-17 All-Defensive team. Green is indeed one of the best defenders at the guard position in the NBA. His defense on Stephen Curry in the finals has been critical for the Raptors being ahead in the series.

His championship pedigree has made all the difference for the Raptors for the season. Before this season, the Raptors were known to bust in the playoffs despite their success in the regular season. Green has been huge for the Raptors this season and is partly responsible for the Raptors busting that myth.

Green can also can shot the three-pointer well, and for his a career in the playoffs, he is 40.2% from three-point range with over six attempts per game.

With Klay Thompson being injured in game 3 of the NBA finals, it was critical for the Raptors to win. And Green played big in game 3. Green was 60% from three-point range on 10 attempts.

Danny Green is the type of player that all basketball teams need to be successful in the playoffs.  For the Nuggets, Green could provide more shooting off the bench and improve the team defensively. And his playoff experience could be invaluable to the Raptors as they move forward.

Dany Green last season made $10,000,000 with the Raptors. He is only 31 years old and has at least four good playing years left his career. The Nuggets should consider luring him away from the Raptors with a more lucrative long-term contract.
