The Denver Nuggets should retain restricted free agent forward Trey Lyles, who—despite a lackluster 2018-19 campaign—is poised to have a bounce back campaign.

Trey Lyles can become the type of player that can give the Nuggets a slight edge in a playoff series. He has a long way to go, but has shown flashes. Lyles had the best season of his young career in 2017-18, becoming a solid floor space and active rebounder in a limited role. He played less minutes per game in the 2018-19 season, dealt with some hamstring issues and overall played worse. Yet, if Lyles can get back to where he was in the 2018 season, the Nuggets will be an even tougher matchup next season.

Throughout his disappointing 2018-19 season, Lyles showed improvement in some specific areas of his game. These flashes showcase how a more effective Lyles should look in the 2019-20 season. Here are three reasons that the Nuggets should bring back RFA Trey Lyles.
