3 Observations: Denver Nuggets’ offense hyper-efficient in first Summer League win
The Denver Nuggets beat the Orland Magic 84-79 in their first NBA Summer League game, using some lights-out shooting to nab the victory.
The Denver Nuggets took down the Orlando Magic in their first game of the NBA Sumer League, behind some great defense and a very efficient shooting performance. The Nuggets brass had to be pleased to see several players who factor into their long-term plans do well, such as Vlatko Cancar, Brandon Goodwin and Jarred Vanderbilt.
There was also a big performance from undrafted guard Terence Davis who earned his way into an NBA contract that was done seemingly right after the Denver Nuggets summer league win. With a team in a position like the Nuggets, summer league is simply a way to see if there are any diamonds in the rough to stash at the end of the roster.
Fortunately for Denver, it looks like President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly and co. have yet again done a nice job of providing the organization with a solid group of prospects to evaluate this summer. They beat Orlando 84-79, shooting 50 percent from the field and 44 percent from the 3-point line.
The Denver Nuggets outrebounded the Magic and forced them into 23 turnovers, making the most of the up-and-down nature of summer league. During the summer, Denver has played just like they do in the regular season, sharing the ball and rotating quickly on D. With Davis now out of the picture, we will get to see even more of Nuggets’ draft picks Vanderbilt and Cancar show off their progress.
