The Denver Nuggets have very little money left to spend in free agency, but they could use that on a guy like Jonas Jerebko to provide depth.

The Denver Nuggets don’t have a ton of money left. They’re deep into the tax, and they’re about to let around $20 million in trade exceptions expire in just a few days because of it. With that being said, they still have their Tax Mid-Level Exception (TMLE) available to sign free agents. One player that they should take a look at it is Jonas Jerebko who is an unrestricted free agent after finishing the year up with the Golden State Warriors.

Jerebko would give them additional frontcourt shooting that would pair well with guys like Torrey Craig and Mason Plumlee off the bench. He has a career 36.3 percent mark from 3-point range, and that number is dragged down by three seasons where he shot 31.3 percent or less to start his career. In the last six years, he has shot at least 36.7 percent in every season outside of his final year with the Boston Celtics.

On a team that was largely new to the playoffs until last season, Jerebko would bring a ton of experience in that area. He has gone to the playoffs in each of the past five seasons, and he has been heavily in the rotation in each of the past four years. One of the Nuggets’ biggest strengths is their depth, and they made that even better by adding Jerami Grant from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Why not double down by adding another depth piece that can play in the playoffs?

Jerebko would give them a different option at the backup power forward spot as more of a new age player while Paul Millsap gives them more of a traditional defensive minded player. The main key with Jerebko and how he fits with this team is that he’s not going to cost them a ton of money to bring in. He’s a rotation-level wing, and they could sign him using part of their TMLE. 3-point shooting and playoff experience come at a premium, and the Nuggets can get both with Jonas.
