The Denver Nuggets made a small handful of moves this offseason, and they made sure to focus on moving forward rather than backward.

The Denver Nuggets had a relatively quiet offseason. They had a limited amount of spending power with some expensive contracts on the books, but they also knew that they had a deep roster that didn’t have a ton of holes. They were focusing on developing their incumbent pieces, and they worked to build around their young pieces without blocking any of them from developing further.

The Nuggets retained Paul Millsap by picking up his team option. They extended Jamal Murray and made a trade to add Jerami Grant to their forward rotation while only giving up one first-round pick that shouldn’t affect them thanks to the current depth that they possess. They finished it all off by adding a sky-high prospect in Bol Bol by grabbing a late second-round draft pick.

For a team that finished second in the Western Conference last year, their moves pushed them forward rather than slipping backward or moving laterally. That’s what they needed to do with the arms race that the remaining teams out West employed. Some teams swung big and hit home runs. Others swung and missed entirely. The Nuggets made contact, so let’s see where this ball ended up for them.
