The Denver Nuggets can have a great season in 2019-20, and Monte Morris could have his best season as a pro with some stats like these.
The Denver Nuggets season is rapidly approaching. Their first preseason game is less than a month away. As we start ramping up coverage for the season, we’re going to get a little bold. Today, we’re starting a bold predictions series. We’re going to start with the bench rotation players followed by the starters along with remaining backups. Today’s subject is everyone’s favorite backup point guard Monte Morris.
Morris has a huge opportunity to break out in a big way this season. He ramped up his work in a huge way last season, as he went from averaging 8.3 minutes per game up to 24.0 minutes per game. His ability to take care of the ball while efficiently running the offense is exactly what you’re looking for out of your backup point guard. When he’s on the floor, head coach Michael Malone has confidence that Morris is going to make the right play more often than not.
Morris has a non-guarantee on his contract for next season, and the team will pick that up. However, he could be playing for a new contract for himself whether that’s with Denver or with someone else. Teams are always looking for good point guard play which Morris brings. If he’s able to hit some of these marks for this year, he’ll get paid on his next extension.
