The Denver Nuggets have one shot to make a steal in the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Denver Nuggets don’t own their own first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, as it’s headed to the Oklahoma City Thunder due to the trade the Nuggets made to acquire forward Jerami Grant in 2019.

However, the Nuggets will be able to select a player in the bottom-third of the first round thanks to the four-team trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks and the Houston Rockets that saw them sending Malik Beasley, Juan Hernangomez and Jarred Vanderbilt to the Timberwolves while the Rockets sent wing Gerald Green and their first-round pick to the Denver.

Assuming that power forward Paul Millsap re-signs with the Nuggets, the most glaring area of need will be shooting guard. Gary Harris’ regression as been surprising and problematic but to make matters worse, there’s no suitable depth behind him.

It’s expecting a lot from a late first-round pick to assume a starting role on a Western Conference contender but there are a couple of prospects that will, at the least, be worthy of a spot in the rotation.
