Pro: Health of older players

It is no secret at this point that Paul Millsap‘s play has slipped just a little bit. His 12 points per game is the lowest he has averaged as a member of the Nuggets and his overall involvement on both ends of the floor has slowly been reduced under Michael Malone. Millsap and Plumlee may be on their way out the door, so a little jolt from the two of them before their contracts expire would be a good site for Nuggets fans.

But he and Mason Plumlee might become beneficiaries under these extreme circumstances. A long, extended rest for several months might allow Millsap and Plumlee to get the kind of time that enables them to turn back the clock and become true forces in a playoff run. Millsap was averaging just 24 minutes a game, which is not too exciting for a player with a $30+ million cap hit.

Plumlee was averaging just under 22 minutes a game, which is a little easier to swallow for a player who is best served coming off the bench anyway. Now that Millsap has had a couple of months off, he could turn back the clock some and return to his old days of being a dominant power forward on both ends of the floor, and get his disappointing usage rate of 20.2 up somewhat.
