As it turns out, the Nuggets may have lucked out when it comes to playoff seeding. As the third seed, they will likely lock horns with the Houston Rockets, who the Nuggets match up very favorably with. Denver played the Rockets to a 2-2 draw over the course of the season, once giving up 130 points to them in an early season game.

But Denver can feel confident knowing the Rockets will not be able to maintain their high-octane, fast-pace style of play for seven games against Denver. The Nuggets have the advantage of playing in thinner air in their altitude, which will give teams that are not used to the conditions fits.

The Rockets’ road record is not all that impressive to begin with. They currently sit at 18-14 on the road, giving them a tall task to try to come in to Denver and steal a game. Denver should be able to establish the upper hand and get the Rockets on their heels in the early stages of the series.

The Rockets have themselves a remarkable backcourt duo in Russell Westbrook and James Harden, but the team’s lack of depth and top-heavy roster could be their undoing against a deep roster like the Nuggets’.
