Reggie Jackson

Before a string of injuries temporarily drained him of his athleticism, Los Angeles Clippers point guard Reggie Jackson was a long-time starter for the Detroit Pistons, starting 293 regular season games for the Eastern Conference Club (out of 299). Jackson also earned a bit of playoff experience before joining the Clippers (although he’ll surely get more of that before his contract expires), playing in 38 postseason games in his time with the Pistons and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

If the Denver Nuggets need a guy who’s well-versed in running a first-man unit, there may be no better choice than this veteran point guard. Jackson has nine NBA seasons under his belt and at 30-years-old, he’s still young enough to be signed to a multi-year deal.

As far as the negatives, he’s injury-prone (he’s only played over 70 regular season games four times), his defensive impact is inconsistent and he was once considered to be a ball-dominant player. However, his 3-point shooting has become a respected part of his game (37.5% on 5.6 attempts over the past two seasons), he’s proven he can buy into systems that give him the ball less and he’s an experienced scorer.

Jackson is definitely the type of player that can lessen the burden on Murray in the backcourt and help him generate easier looks, as it’s precisely what he’s doing for Lou Williams while he’s with the Clippers.
