The Denver Nuggets have several go-to guys in their lineup, but which of them should take the last shot for all the marbles?

The Denver Nuggets have had a number of pulsating thrillers both in the regular season and in the playoffs in recent memory. The team has had several tough, back and forth showdowns with the Dallas Mavericks, including two this season that came down to the final moments.

The Nuggets also went seven games with both the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers in last year’s playoffs, which included some memorable games throughout both series. Jamal Murray canned an absolutely huge running floater with under forty seconds to go in the team’s triumph over the Spurs in the deciding seventh game, and lifted the team to another grueling finish against Portland in a similar situation seven games later.

Off a broken possession, trailing by three points with the season hanging on by a thread, Murray regained his handle on the ball after initially being stripped of it by the defender. He then sank a tough off balance shot from the foul line to keep the Nuggets alive. Of course, Nikola Jokic is no stranger to the clutch moment either.

In one of the team’s bitter clashes with the Mavericks, Jokic tallied the winning points over the helpless Dorian Finney-Smith with under ten seconds left to give the Nuggets a crucial road win over a strong opponent. For the Nuggets, in a potential playoff clash, Jokic looks like he will be the better option than Murray, for one simple reason.

Next. The Nuggets should bring back this player. dark

So often in tight playoff games, the game slows down to such a pace that having a competent post scorer who can settle down the offense and relieve the tension can do wonders for a team with ten sweaty palms on the court. Denver has one of the most talented centers to come into the game in the last fifteen years, and should take advantage whenever necessary, as strong as Murray is in the clutch.
