PJ Dozier – C-
PJ Dozier is still young and it shows but I still remain intrigued by his physical ability and upside. Today he was a team low -13 but he provided a body at the guard position that coach Malone is sorely missing right now. It may be cheap to give a player a better grade simply because they fill a position of need but I’m not below it.
PJ gives small point guards trouble on the defensive end and held his own when he found himself matched up against Chris Paul.
Jerami Grant – D
Jerami Grant’s grade would likely have been lower had the Nuggets not been able to pull off a win. The rumors of him being Denver’s potential successor after Paul Millsap are not as exciting as they once were considering his play of late. Jerami had a team low 2 points in 34 minutes of play and tha is somehow even less than Bol Bol’s 3 points in 4 minutes of play.
Jerami had a few nice defensive plays towards the end of the game but it wasn’t enough to hide his wholesale ineffectiveness throughout the majority of this game
The Nuggets will be challenged again in their next two games (August 5 and 6) against San Antonio and Portland. Ideally, they will be able to keep their positive momentum against two Western Conference teams that aren’t to be underestimated.
