The Denver Nuggets are just about set for their game seven showdown with the Utah Jazz. It is the third straight playoff series for the Nuggets to come down to a seventh and deciding game.
There are no two words better in the English language than game seven. The Denver Nuggets, by night’s end, will have played in three consecutive game sevens ending in an all-out war between Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray.
Both young guards have set the league on fire through six games, with Murray stealing the show night after night with two different 50-point games. Murray’s performances have been among the best in the team’s franchise history in the postseason. Gary Harris may also see some more time on the floor as he slowly makes his way back onto the floor.
Denver is still looking to avenge their game seven loss to the Portland Trail Blazers from a season ago. In Denver’s two game seven performances from last year, Murray struggled from the field. He did however can two midrange jump shots combined in the last minute of each game.
For the Nuggets to win, they are going to have to withstand another ridiculous onslaught from Mitchell. Unfortunately one of these two players has to lose, and his performance will get overshadowed by the victor. The Nuggets are going to need vintage performances as well from Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap.
The Nuggets and Jazz are both missing key cogs in the rotation in Will Barton and Bojan Bogdanovic. Denver is in dire need of a third scoring option to step up, whether that be Michael Porter Jr., Monte Morris, or Harris. Game seven tips off Tuesday night at 8:30 P.M. ET.
