There are only a couple of great options for replacing Jerami Grant if the Denver Nuggets can’t re-sign him this offseason.

Jerami Grant is obviously going to be the Denver Nuggets’ main priority this offseason because of the impact he made in the postseason and because he’s widely expected to be a free agent.

While a report from The Denver Post’s Mike Singer postures that Grant could command $14-16 million in free agency, there’s always the likelihood that he could generate a higher asking price on the free market, especially with what’s perceived as a high level of interest for the 26-year-old forward. However, because the Nuggets won’t have Grant’s “Bird rights” if he declines his player option for the 2020-21 season, Denver can’t go over the salary cap to retain him; that likely will effect how much the Nuggets would be willing to offer him.

With there being a legitimate possibility that Denver is unable to re-sign Grant, it’s fair for them to look at their options in replacing him.

Grant’s combination of defensive versatility and athleticism allowed him to mesh well with the team’s starting lineup and that’s the player mold that the Nuggets will have to look for. Although his potential replacements may not emerge as starter in his first season with the team, he could still play an integral role in the rotation.
