Where do the Nuggets go from here?
Focus on young talent
Heading into next season, the Nuggets need to find a way to utilize more of their young talent.
Bol Bol and P.J. Dozier are skilled two-way players that have proven they belong on Denver’s squad.
Bol, just 20-years-old, is a 7’2 center who shot 44.4% from 3-point range in what was just his quasi-rookie season. He averaged 5.7 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game, 0.9 assists and 0.9 blocks in 12.4 minutes per game, numbers that translate to 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per 36 minutes. Although it’s an inexact science, anybody that watches Bol will believe that if he gets more minutes, his numbers could surge.
Dozier, who has shown the ability to run and offense and make plays off-the-dribble with confidence, hangs his hat on the on defensive end while Bol is a more well-rounded player. The cousin of late Boston Celtics’ star Reggie Lewis, Dozier’s role is to use his size and instincts to cause havoc on defense.
If Harris or Barton isn’t traded, Dozier could prove himself the best option as the starting shooting guard. Dozier is a better defender than Barton and seems more skilled offensively than Harris.
