Where do the Nuggets go from here?
Work on chemistry
Last but not least, the Nuggets need to practice working as a team.
In the playoffs, Jokic and Murray were primary options for scoring and the others — outside of Jerami Grant — didn’t seem to get consistent scoring opportunities.
Grant is expected to decline his player option for next season and become a free agent in hopes of securing a more lucrative contract. If Denver can bring him back, that will be ideal for the offense because he compliments the starting lineup well with his smooth athleticism.
Paul Millsap will also be a free agent but depending on the size of the contract they give to Grant, he may not return. Millsap’s age has diminished his effectiveness offensively but he’s still a knockdown shooter than can play off of their other playmakers.
The Nuggets need to work on having a team-based offense that involves everyone, in order to give their offense five ‘live’ players at all times and to alleviate the pressure put on Jokic and Murray.
There’s no time to dally though, as these are changes the Nuggets need to act on sooner rather than later.
