Paul Millsap

Paul Millsap is highly appreciated by the Denver Nuggets because he provides a mix of toughness, experience, leadership and skill that they couldn’t find from anyone else on the roster. However, after receiving $90 million over the last three seasons and not making the type of impact — at least on the court — that you would expect from a player being paid that much, the question of how much it will cost to retain Millsap is the most important of all.

Of course, the amount that the Nuggets spend to bring back Jerami Grant once he declines his player option is going to affect how much they’re willing to pay. Yet, their impression of how useful Millsap will be on the court will determine that as well.

Per The Denver Post’s Mike Singer, Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly would definitely have interest in re-signing Millsap.

“I would love to see Paul retire in a Nuggets jersey,” Connelly said on Altitude on Wednesday morning. “What he brought to this team and this city has been pretty special.”

Still, as we’ve all seen, it’s possible that there’s a team out there — like the Miami Heat or New York Knicks — that could offer Millsap more than Denver is willing to match.
