Denver Nuggets combo forward Bol Bol is oozing with potential and ready to contribute.
Bol Bol may be ready to take the next step for the Denver Nuggets too.
In a impressive video posted by the team’s official Twitter account, an aggressive Bol — a 7’2″ Sudanese unicorn — continued to show the Nuggets why he should be a part of the team’s rotation. Fortunately for the former Oregon standout, the coaching staff is already willing to give him a chance to be in the second-unit, having been impressed by the work he’s put in this offseason.

You can see Bol attacking closeouts and pulling up from midrange, using his length to disrupt entry passes in the post then racing coast-to-coast to throw down an emphatic slam, and turning shots away at the rim with timing and instincts.
It’s been said many times before and it will continue to be said but you will rarely find a player with Bol’s combination of size, athleticism, shooting touch, passing instincts, defensive potential and positional versatility.
In fact, while players like Joel Embiid and Kristaps Porzingis may come to mind when thinking of Bol, the 2019 second-round pick has no legitimate NBA comps because there isn’t a player taller than 7’0″ that’s considered a skilled combo forward. 7’0″ superstar Kevin Durant, a sharper athlete and ball-handler than Bol, is actually the closest it comes; he’s also a finesse forward with a long and thin physical profile.
Perhaps though, it can be said that Bol is some combination of Durant (positional fluidity and shooting touch), Porzingis (length and shot-blocking potential) and Jokic (passing instincts and guard skills).
As Bol continues to show himself to be a dynamic two-way force for Denver, there’s going little excuse not to find minutes for him.
Jerami Grant’s departure may have actually been a blessing in disguise.
