3 ways Aaron Gordon helps the Denver Nuggets: Lineup versatility

Gordon’s height allows the Nuggets to be more versatile with their line-ups. At 6′ 9″, Gordon has played both forward spots for the Orlando Magic and will likely do the same for the Nuggets depending on the matchup.

His height and defensive capabilities at this height helps the Nuggets become bigger in any line-up, as the team was quite short when playing Will Barton in the small forward position. By trading Harris to acquire Gordon, Barton can thrive in the shooting guard position, while allowing Gordon to play the small forward or power forward.

The addition to the team also allows Michael Porter Jr. to be switched between the two forward positions depending on the matchup. Porter Jr. has been thriving in the power forward position lately, so having Gordon play the small forward allows the Nuggets’ young gun to continue running at that position.

The versatility will allow Mike Malone to make line-up changes on the fly, with a variety of players now able to play a multitude of positions. Depending on the matchup, Gordon will feature in either of the forward spots, giving the Nuggets versatility and a number of different lineups to choose from.
