Player Michael Porter Jr can expose on Phoenix Suns: Cameron Johnson

The Phoenix Suns have some incredible production at the guard position in potential MVP candidate Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

Defensively, the Nuggets guards will have trouble keeping in front of them, but the abuse Porter can force on their inexperienced wings needs to outpace them for Denver to have a shot against them in the playoffs.

The young Cameron Johnson is averaging 24 minutes per game for the Suns and is a tantalizing matchup for the quick and agile Porter. Johnson has had a great season this year spacing the floor and hitting open shots from Paul and Booker.

The Suns play hard every night and have a strong defensive center in Deandre Ayton who can protect the rim and make up for a plethora of his defensive mistakes. Opponents shoot 41 percent from behind the arc when being defended by him and 62 percent within 10 feet. With his efficiency over the past few games, Phoenix should be worried about this potential matchup going forward.

Johnson’s overall inexperience on the defensive end is something Porter should attack every time down the floor, especially in a playoff setting. He has the ability to get his shot off over anyone with his 7’0 wingspan and will do plenty of damage with the pull-up three and attacking the rim.
