Player Michael Porter Jr can expose on LA Clippers: Serge Ibaka

The LA Clippers have some impressive depth at their wing positions with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. They also have some serious defenders at the forward position in Marcus Morris, Nicolas Batum, Patrick Patterson, and Serge Ibaka. The amount of length they can throw at the Nuggets and Michael Porter Jr is a matchup they want to avoid, however, Porter should be able to attack Ibaka off the bounce.

Against Denver, the Clippers likely start Ivica Zubac to match up with Nikola Jokic meaning the power forward spot is someone that will have to keep up with the young Porter and Aaron Gordon.

Ibaka is a three-time member of the All-Defensive team and a two-time block champion. He’s still an intelligent defender despite losing a step over recent years. His ability to protect the paint is still there, opponents are only shooting 53 percent against him from less than six feet.

Ibaka will likely be matched up with Aaron Gordon to deny him easy looks at the rim, but if he is switched onto Porter the Clippers should be worried.

Porter has an ability to put his defenders on skates and simply rise above them and get his shot over any defense. He has been on an offensive tear recently, over his last 15 games he has been shooting almost 52 percent from the midrange and 47 percent on fast-break 3-pointers. His ability to score on all three levels will keep the elite defenders of the Clippers awake at night.
