Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns series preview: Wing battle

The wing battle is an intriguing prospect for both teams, as the Nuggets look to have a more offensive wing tandem, featuring both Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon. Porter has been excellent since the injury of Jamal Murray, becoming Denver’s secondary option on the offensive end. The young star showed some of his potential to be a dominant force, hitting 22 points in one quarter during Game 6 against the Blazers.

Aaron Gordon has also been vital for the Nuggets, helping them both on the offensive and defensive end, showcasing his great abilities to be a two way player and a playmaker for this team. Added to this starting pair is a bench consisting of veteran Paul Millsap and JaMychal Green, who provide solid options and leadership off the bench.

While the Nuggets wings look to be stronger on paper, Denver needs to not underestimate the Suns interesting wing rotation. Led by starters Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder, Phoenix have some great defenders who will be focused on limiting the impact of Porter.

Both Bridges and Crowder are effective from beyond the arc, while Cameron Johnson and former Nugget Torrey Craig provide the team with valuable production off the bench.

Bridges will be given the tough task of locking down Porter, which he is more than capable of doing after playing a series against LeBron James. If the Nuggets are to be successful, Porter will need to rise above the tough defensive matchups he will face and continue to stand tall as a star for this team.
