Denver Nuggets Game 3 lessons: Monte Morris is crucial to success

Every top-tier NBA team needs their spark plug off the bench, with that player providing the team with the boost it needs to remain competitive while the starters rest. Monte Morris is that guy, and his struggle throughout the first two games of the series was a part of why Denver has never able to bounce back.

Between the first two games, Morris combined for five points, while shooting an abysmal 2-17 from the field. His fortunes changed in Game 3 as Morris shot an impressive 75 percent from the field and had 21 points and five assists. His play helped the Nuggets stay competitive for some of the game, even if they were eventually overrun.

While his good game may not have led to the win, Game 3 reminded fans how important and crucial Monte Morris is to the success of the Denver Nuggets. His scoring and playmaking abilities provide Denver with a spark off the bench, with Morris being one of the standouts from Denver’s third straight loss.

If the Nuggets want to make a comeback against the Suns, Morris will be an important key to coming up with a string of wins, as his performance provides Denver with the spark they need to keep themselves competitive.
