Denver Nuggets: 3 teams who could trade for Aaron Gordon mid-season: Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards have entered somewhat of a competitive rebuild, as the franchise looks to placate the reportedly disillusioned Bradley Beal. After making numerous moves throughout the off-season, the Wizards now have a potential package to move for a  player like Aaron Gordon should they become available.

Gordon would slide into a second option role in Washington and would be asked to ease some of the scoring burden from Beal, while also using his floor spacing and secondary creation skills to add additional playmaking to the roster from the wing position.

Unlike the Celtics and Pelicans, the Wizards do not possess a TPE large enough to fit Aaron Gordon’s salary into it, so they would need to go the more traditional route of salary matching. However, with complementary players such as Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Wizards will easily be able to construct a package that could both improve the top end of their roster and provide depth for the Denver Nuggets.

The Wizards front office is doing everything possible to show Bradley Beal they’re committed to contending with him as a centerpiece, and a trade for a player of Gordon’s caliber would go a long way to further backing up that narrative. Luckily for the Wizards, should Beal decide to take his talents elsewhere in the coming off-season, they could let Aaron Gordon leave in free agency and enter a full-scale rebuild.

Seems like this trade is less likely than the Celtics or Pelicans, but it could be the one that has the largest impact on the team Gordon is joining.
