Denver Nuggets: P.J. Dozier has been the first off the bench

Or, he’s been part of a crew of first substitutions. Dozier brings an all-around floor game, hustling at both ends for loose balls and rebounds. He’s a strong defender with a long wingspan.

Yet Dozier is only averaging 5.6 points per game on 36.5 percent from the field and about 32 percent on 3-pointers. His career high-scoring average, last season with the Nuggets, is 7.7 points per game so his ceiling is relatively low.

With Jamal Murray, MPJ and Jokic out at the moment, the Nuggets need scoring, especially from the outside. Unfortunately, Dozier hasn’t been making much of a splash lately.

Perhaps down the line, Dozier could earn more minutes again in the primetime bench role but for now it feels like the Nuggets need more of a sparkplug than a role player.
