Who should the Denver Nuggets root for? Torrey Craig

It was unfortunate, and probably wrong, to see Torrey Craig leave in free agency. If this season has proven anything, it’s that the Denver Nuggets need more top-tier wing defense. His departure in free agency was supposed to open up more playing time for P.J. Dozier who sadly suffered a season-ending injury, but the Nuggets could’ve used Craig.

When Torrey left in free agency, the Nuggets had plenty of depth on the wings but when the playoffs rolled around, it was clear they needed more on the defensive end. Hell, even years later, Denver still needs defensive wings.

In the 2021 playoffs, when the Denver Nuggets faced the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals, Craig played an essential role in breaking down his former team’s game plan for Monty Williams and the Suns coaching staff.

And while that wasn’t exactly fun for Nuggets fans, it was a cruel twist of fate for a team that, in my opinion, should’ve kept the journeyman wing stopper.

After playing multiple seasons in the Australian NBL for the Brisbane Bullets, among other teams, Torrey was picked up by the Denver Nuggets and played a huge rotation role for the three seasons he was in Colorado.

While he won’t be winning a title in Denver, it’d be nice to see him find success elsewhere and right now, that’s with the Phoenix Suns.
