Is Bones Hyland about to take a major leap?

Bones Hyland is going to be the first guard off the bench for this Denver Nuggets team and when Jamal Murray rests following his knee issues, Bones will be the second or third option on offense. That’s a huge responsibility for a player who only has half a season of above-average play on his resume.

But is that resume about to grow?

It’s almost definitely increasing as the opportunities are right there for Bones next season but can he keep his excellent efficiency with a larger sample size?

I think he can. Hyland has been nothing but prepared since he came into the league and after some groovy summer runs across the country, Bones looks primed for that bench scorer role on a title contender.

So much of this preseason is about seeing shots go through the rim, whether it be for a returning player like MPJ or Murray, or a young guy seeing a bigger role in Bones or Nnaji.

If Hyland can’t be the offensive hub off the bench, Malone will be looking at journeyman Ish Smith to take the reigns. While Smith is capable, he doesn’t have as high a ceiling as the electric scoring guard Bones Hyland is.
