The Denver Nuggets took care of business at home in Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, riding a strong shooting performance to a 109-80 win.
Minnesota struggled on offense, getting just 11 points from Karl-Anthony Towns and 18 points from Anthony Edwards.
Denver really turned things on in the second half, outscoring the Wolves 32-14 in the third quarter to really open up the lead.
Denver was favored by eight points in Game 1, and oddsmakers are expecting more of the same in Game 2, setting the Nuggets as 8.5-point favorites.
Let’s dive into the odds and my best bet for this game:
Timberwolves vs. Nuggets odds, spread and total
Timberwolves vs. Nuggets prediction and pick
The Nuggets have been elite at home all season long, and they are in a good spot to cover the spread as well against Minnesota.
As a home favorite this season, Denver is 22-15-1 against the spread, winning those games by an average margin of 10.2 points per game.
Minnesota’s offense has to be better, but the issue is the team insists on playing Rudy Gobert, which limits how much the team can space the floor.
The crazy thing is Denver can certainly play better, as Nikola Jokic fouled out and only had 13 points in this contest.
Minnesota is going to shoot better than 37.0 percent, but is that enough to shift a 29-point gap to inside nine points?
I’m not buying it from a Wolves team that hasn’t looked great in two Play-In games and one playoff game.
