Building a perfect Nuggets cast for Nikola Jokic with 1 All-Star, 1 HOFer, and 2 role players: PG – Lonzo Ball
We’re already living in a fantasy world, so let’s turn injuries off. Before he got hurt in the 2021-22 season, Lonzo Ball was having an absolutely stellar year for the Chicago Bulls.
He wasn’t playing at an All-Star level, but the impact he had for Chicago was All-Star-worthy. Since he’s been hurt, the Bulls have been a shell of the team they were for the 35 games he was playing.
So, for this team built around Jokic, Ball will be running the point as one of the two role-player picks, but more specifically, the 2021 Bulls version of Ball is the choice here.
In those 35 games he played for Chicago, Ball averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and 42.3% from distance on 7.4 three-point attempts per game.
At 6-foot-6, Ball is a tall point guard capable of guarding multiple positions at a high level while also shooting the three-ball at an elite clip. That’s exactly the type of player the Denver Nuggets should want to put around Jokic.
Ball’s playmaking would complement Jokic well, too, making him a top-tier choice to run the point for this fantasy team.
Honorable mentions (in other roles): Stephen Curry (HOF), Jrue Holiday (AS)
