With Mike Malone being an NBA championship coach, most people have realized what an amazing job he has done coaching the Denver Nuggets. He has been the head coach since 2015 and has been one of the longest tenured coaches in the NBA.

Some people have had their fair share of criticism to hand out to Malone, though. Yes, he’s been a successful coach to the tune of an NBA title, but even some championship coaches have had criticism. Just recently, the Milwaukee Bucks fired Mike Budenholzer, even though he helped win the 2021 NBA Finals.

Recently on Undisputed, Richard Sherman, a former NFL player, had this to say about Michael Malone.

He also said that people would forget about the Denver Nuggets championship team, which is even more insulting. NBA champs are etched into the history books, and the same will go for the Nuggets. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are now going to be forever known in basketball history as two of Denver’s greatest players and playoff performers ever.

He also said that people would forget about Denver, but no one will forget LeBron James. Well, yes, LeBron James is a talented player, and one of the greatest players, if not the greatest basketball player of all time. It would be impossible to mention the game of basketball without mentioning his name. But saying that no one will remember the Denver Nuggets’ championship team is just rude.

As for Richard Sherman, he was a talented football player for many years. He was a Pro-Bowler five times, won a Super Bowl once with the Seattle Seahawks, and was on the All-Pro team three times throughout his lengthy career.

Looking at Mike Malone, yes he may not be a Hall of Fame coach, and maybe he never will. But Nikola Jokic probably will be in the Hall of Fame someday and has a good chance to make it even if he retires right now. Jamal Murray has the chance to be in the Hall of Fame, too, but if he wants to, he’ll have to start making All-Star and All-NBA teams.

Saying that the world will practically forget Mike Malone and the champion Denver Nuggets team altogether is flat-out ignorant, considering this was Denver’s first ever NBA title, and the first time even making the NBA Finals.

Even decades and decades down the line, there still will be people who won’t forget about the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic. Sure, maybe people won’t remember that Mike Malone was the head coach of the team, but that’s not to say he was a bad coach. He was still really valuable to the team and winning.

Next. Does Jamal Murray deserve a super-max?. dark

Richard Sherman’s take is laughable, and if the Denver Nuggets are able to win another championship this year, that would make them back-to-back champs, and that would definitely put them in the NBA’s history books as potentially a dynasty.
