Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic had a hilarious tip for Oklahoma City Thunder rookie, Chet Holmgren, after Denver spoiled the home opener for OKC, 128-95. The two-time MVP suggested that the 21-year-old “be a little bit fatter.”

“He’s a really talented guy, but this is his first year. He’s still learning everything: the game, how quick it is, where is (he at) an advantage, where is (he at) a disadvantage,” Jokic said (h/t Bennett Durando). “I think he needs experience. I think he needs to be a little bit fatter, to be honest. But yes, he has a talent that is unique.”

Jokic’s advice for the Minnesota native is pretty hilarious, it’s not every day that you hear a pro athlete suggest that one of their peers gets fat. But, the big Serbian has had significant success in the league despite his doughy look.

Just last spring, he told the haters that they shouldn’t have bet against the fat boy.

Nikola Jokic had his way with Chet Holmgren in the Denver Nuggets’ win over OKC

Jokic’s take on Holmgren’s game came after he had his way with the rookie all Sunday afternoon. The Nuggets star finished the day with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists while shooting 12-of-16 from the field.

He was able to get just about any look that he wanted, and there was nothing that Holmgren could do.

Below is a compilation of Jokic’s dominant play against the Thunder, as DNVR’s Harrison Wind so kindly took the time to put it together.

Holmgren’s day wasn’t nearly as poor on the offensive end of the floor. He tallied 19 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting for the Thunder. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to keep up with Jokic, which resulted in his game-low plus/minus of -23.

Denver’s win over OKC kept their undefeated start to the season alive, bringing their record to 3-0 on the year. They’ll be back in action on Monday night as they host the Utah Jazz at 7 p.m. MT.
